tapas night, but like, actually tapas

up until now, el lopo has always been a topless bar... but on Thursday, June 26th, we're finally covering up!

the word tapa quite literally means "lid" in spanish, originating as a piece of bread placed over a glass of wine to keep the flies out. when bars began differentiating themselves by what creative toppings they would throw onto that bread, the word took on its secondary meaning as a dining format.

traditionally, tapas are supposed to be free with your drink, so we've usually avoided using the word here because our bar snacks are something you have to purchase separately from a menu. but for once, we'll be including a little something yummy and unique every time you order a drink!

because san francisco is hella expensive and we can't afford to just give tapas to any rando who wanders in, this will be a ticketed event. but the one-time $15 fee covers all your tapas for the night, so all you'll pay for are your drinks and any additional rations you order. if you're a member of our take-care-of-me club, you get $15 off the $15 ticket price!

please note that in the spirit of a true tapas bar, we are not taking reservations for the evening. we aren't selling more tickets than we have seats, so you're guaranteed somewhere to sit, but you might have to interact with some strangers.
